Homeware Perfect for Spring

12345678910

Homeware is something which I could search for all day, every day. I often wish that I chose to study interior design as it just seems so fun. With spring arriving (I think Aberdeen forgot this year though), so many stores are launching lovely clean, fresh looking items which in my eyes is the ultimate definition of spring. Copper and white just will not leave my heart however, I feel it fits this season perfectly along with some green plants. Ah if only I had an unlimited bank account... actually I would definitely become a homeware hoarder.

Fresh Spring Makeup

To me, the phrase 'spring time makeup' just screams neutral eyes, lots of highlight (which you sadly cannot see in the photos) and bright lips. Usually I would go for one of my Mac Lipsticks such as Please me or Pink Plaid however, after recently rediscovering my Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish lipstick in shade 12 I just had to try it out again. I do not even know if you can get this anymore as it is not on the Boots or Superdrug website but, it is the perfect orangy-red which I am sure many other brands would stock. Anyway here is my go to spring makeup this year:

Spring Wardrobe Staples

Can you believe that it is the end of March already? This year is flying past so fast that I can barely keep up. However this means that its finally time to put away the jumpers and pull forward pretty spring time items. Although I am excited about this, my wardrobe needs some serious revamping! Here are some staples that I think are vital to add to my spring time wardrobe, all from New Look:

Cold Shouldered Tops

1234

I have been a fan of tops that expose your shoulders for a long time now as you could be completely dressed down, yet cut out shoulders add a little bit of jazz. My ultimate favourite out of these 4 is the pink one as the relaxed fit looks extremely comfortable yet feminine.

Culottes
1234

I have had a pair of culottes in my wardrobe for months now however have yet to work up the courage to wear them. My 5'3 height just does not seem to match with the cropped trend yet I am not willing to give up. They look amazing when worn casually with a tee and trainers/sandals or on a night out with a crop top and barely there heels.

Denim

1234

Okay denim is a staple all year round however I love lighter washes in the spring. Ripped boyfriend and mom jeans are popping up every where at the moment which makes me want a pair so badly! Furthermore, denim jackets seem to be popular year after year and I am shocked to admit that one has never occupied my wardrobe. That definitely has to change.

Pinafores
1234

Again the pinafore trend is another one that does not agree with my body type however who cares right? I love pinafore dresses or playsuits as they are just so cute when layered with a high neck jumper or t shirt underneath. There is so much variety out there now too which makes it impossible to choose just one!

Stripes

1234

I have actually only owned about like 3 striped items in the past 10 years, so shocking considering they are staples in most peoples wardrobes. Can you really beat a plain striped tee? Again these are items that can just be chucked on with jeans and trainers and you are set to go. The best type of outfits for a lazy girl like me.

W7 Twist and Shape Eyebrow Pencil

I am always on the hunt for new eyebrow products and when I saw the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer, I knew that I wanted it and had to have it. However currently being on a student budget with no job, it became apparent to me that wasting £16 on an eyebrow pencil when I already have so many would be stupid. So instead, I went onto trusty eBay and found this W7 Twist and Shape Brow pencil for £2.99 which I thought would be a perfect dupe due to the angled end just like the Anastasia one. Here are my thoughts:

So I have heard of the W7 brand before however have never tried any of their products. All I know is that it is a budget brand who sells eye shadow palettes that are good dupes for the Urban Decay ones. I found this pencil to be very waxy however usually I apply powder to my brows so that may be why. The angled tip did make it simple to apply and once combed through with a brush it blended nicely. It also stays put and looks fine all day.

However I got it in the shade Blonde and as you can see it is more like a brunette shade. This did not affect me as I do have brown eyebrows however if you have really light ones then this definitely would not work for you. I am also a bit scared that the angle of the pencil may become a bit distorted after a few uses so this will definitely have to be watched.

To conclude, this is a good eyebrow pencil for £2.99 but its just a bit bleugh as you can tell from the little I can write about it. It is definitely worth a try if you are considering buying the Anastasia one and do not want to fork out the money straight away. I am definitely going to stick for my powder for now however will consider the Anastasia one in the future.

Have you ever tried this product?

Evolution of my Brows

So eyebrows, lets talk about them bad boys. Please tell me that I am not the only one who cringes when looking back at old photos? I obviously had no idea what good brows were. Here is a post for you to laugh (or cringe) at, enjoy my mishaps!

Phase 1: No eyebrows

Okay this is before I had even started filling in my brows, they just look naked. At the time I just didn't realise how silly they looked and when people at my school started filling in their eyebrows, I thought they were the silly ones.. logic? there is definitely none there.

Phase 2: Awkward shape

Ah what was I thinking. Here I am pictured above with the woman who introduced me to brow products - my sister. She used to always ask if she could do my brows and I would say no when really she was obviously just trying to correct this horrible shape I had going on. Really appreciate it now Jen.

Phase 3: Over plucked and too precise

This is right after I managed to get rid of that horrible shape, by myself I must add. Now they became too precise and thin. At the time I really thought they looked amazing and I was the bees knees but now cringe in disbelief.

Phase 4: Marker pen

This might be even worse than the bad shaped brows.. just wow. Why did no one tell me that my eyebrows looked sharpied in? I also remember that it used to take me like 45 minutes to get them like this, definite time wasted.

Phase 5: Today's brows

With a few switch ups of products, mainly in lighter shades, my eye brows are now acceptable. Still not perfect and I really envy people with amazing brows but they are definitely a hell of a lot better! I think the next step is to go and actually get them done by a professional (its been 3 years, oops) and then I will be 100% happy. Currently I used the lightest Sleek Brow Kit and sometimes experiment with Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade in Taupe however I still have to master using that one.

Did you have bad eyebrow days (or years) like me?
